Rapha Travel Bike Tours Reviews
Rapha Travel features some of the foremost advanced level bike tours in the world. To provide travelers with a cycling experience unlike any other, Rapha has partnered with everyone from Jaguar and Cliff Bar to Pinarello and Fizik. The cycling apparel company known for outfitting Team Sky has revolutionized the bike tour market for advanced cyclists.
Since 2007, Rapha has been designing trips geared towards avid cyclists and semi-professionals. As stated on their website, they almost require that you're a highly skilled rider. Don't be surprised if they ask to see a list of the races you've won. You'll tackle the most difficult climbs, ride professional racing routes, and receive professional level support during your entire trip. However, their Retreat series tours which are all rated 'Moderato' (level one on a four point scale) are intended for riders seeking leisure, scenery and culture. You'll still be in a peloton of avid cyclists so don't go thinking you can coast your way through the day.
During the day you can expect everything to be quick. The riders you're with will keep up the pace, your lunch break will go by too fast and the descents are blindingly fast. The only parts of your trip that don't go by fast enough are the series of climbs you'll encounter along the way. Each 1,900 foot climb at grades of 15-20% will be etched into your memory, and your legs. But, at the same time, will be a beautiful memory full of emotion, the smell of the trees, the sounds of the birds, and your sense of pure accomplishment. Rapha trips are known for their epic climbs and relentless pace that you'll learn to love.
Rapha trips certainly aren't for everyone. For one, their prices are sky-high compared to other lesser known operators. And, there is a serious fear that at Rapha pricing you'll be riding alongside fat bankers who haven't touched a serious bike in years. This couldn't be further from the truth. While we obviously can't vouch for every departure, the riders on a Rapha Travel bike tour will keep you fighting for position and make you question your abilities.
What could Rapha possibly provide for all the cash they require? Just like their cycling kits - the Rapha name and the quality you've come to expect.
