Adventure Travel Group Bike Tours Reviews
Adventure Travel Group (ATG) bike tours are geared towards avid cyclists looking for a bit of a challenge, as you may be able to tell from the company name. The focus here is cycling so you won’t find many off-the-bike activities on an ATG bike tour.
This relatively small company is owned and operated by Lise Fleury and Gary Bezer, who design and guide nearly all of their trips. During the busy summer months, with so few guides, it can make it difficult to find an available tour. However, their staff has been growing a bit over the past year so they appear to be working to provide more departure dates. With a new website, more tour dates, and larger staff, the ATG bike tours keep looking better and better.
Hotels are typically 3-4 star 'comfortable' inns so you're not staying at the region's top accommodations, but you'll certainly have all of the basic amenities such as private bathroom and shower. Most tour itineraries are designed with multi-night stays at each hotel so you can get to know each town instead of having to pack up and transfer each day. This is a nice touch as most other tour operators like to stay at many different hotels along the route.
Breakfasts and a few dinners are included, but you're on your own for all lunches and any “non-group” dinners. Included dinners are four-course and hosted at local hand-picked restaurants. And, don’t worry - they’ll have plenty of the red stuff flowing as wine is included with dinner.
Adventure Travel Group bike tours are perfect for avid cyclists who are looking for a cycling focused trip at a price point just a bit more than a “budget” tour might cost. With the extra cost comes nicer hotels, expertly tailored routes, smaller group sizes, and a much more personal experience with two extremely experienced guides.
Number of Tours: 17
Meals: Breakfast / Most Dinners
ATG Bike Tours are not for leisure cyclists or travelers looking to sit back and enjoy the scenery. They're similar to Thomson Bike Tours in that they focus on technical routes with challenging climbs best suited for the avid cyclist who enjoys working up a sweat and being pushed on a ride. However, Adventure Travel Group is the less difficult, less expensive option of the two.

Adventure Travel Group Customer Reviews
If you want large busses, large groups and large, "big box" hotels, Adventure Travel Group isn't for you. BUT, if you enjoy being away from the normal tourist grind, small and friendly groups, and guides who personally have experienced every hotel, restaurant, and ride, then travel with Gary and Lise. I'll soon be booking my third trip and now think of them as friends!Posted by Dave Benson
