Butterfield & Robinson Bike Tours Reviews
Butterfield & Robinson is one of the travel industry giants with a diverse range of travel options including standard bike tours, self-guided, family trips, walking trips and culinary focused tours. While they claim to have routes designed for 'avid cyclists' their typical tour is geared towards casual riders interested in more than just cycling. Their slogan is "Slow Down", so it only make sense that they're not designing the world's most intense cycling trips.
You'll find that B&R includes nearly all of the accommodations any luxury traveler would come to expect. Posh hotels, wine with meals, transfers, baggage handling, bikes, equipment, events and activities are all included in your price.
The world's best hotels are a hallmark of B&R tours. They scour the globe for the most incredible places to stay. A standard tour consists of mainly 5-star luxury hotels that get the personal stamp of approval from owner George Butterfield. There is an option to downgrade to the still luxurious 4-star options. All of this luxury comes at a price, but you'll travel in style and never have to worry about hotel conditions or food quality.
One slightly unique aspect of Butterfield and Robinson is that their guides are trained to be there when you need them and not when you don't. Most bike tours are decidedly either heavily guided or not guided in any way. Butterfield's great mix between the two allows you to bike care-free knowing that your guides are sending you in the right direction but also gives you the freedom to explore a winery on your own without being tied down to the group.
One downside to B&R can be their larger than average group sizes, However, private and custom options allow you to travel with only who you want, when you want and how you want. But, you'll have to have the cash to reserve one of their private tours. Prices can skyrocket when you start customizing your trip.
Number of Tours: 87
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Most Dinners
Most of Butterfield's bike tours are on the easier side. Their slogan is "Slow Down", after all. They are able to customize a more advanced tour if you're willing to pay for a private trip.

Just came back from Family Cycling in Tuscany for the second time - loved it again. A great time was had by our family and our friends that joined us on the trip.Posted by Jo Anne Cummings on Thursday, August 20, 2015
